Roberto Romano is a self-taught photographer from La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.

His passion for the medium has spanned over three decades. Beginning his photographic journey in the early 90s, he naturally started with silver-based photographic films and has continued to work with this medium ever since.

He is an enthusiastic experimenter, constantly exploring a wide variety of cameras and formats, from the simplicity of hand-crafted 24x36 pinhole cameras to large-format 4x5 inch cameras.

The themes in his photographic work are deeply personal, often grappling with the passage of time, the inevitability of decay, feelings of solitude, and existential fears. His images evoke a sense of melancholy and strangeness, inviting viewers into daydream-like realms.
