For me the great thing about photography: It has taught me to see--and to appreciate the beauty, novelty, and delightful weirdness of my immediate existence. As much as taking pictures, I love to play with them in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Previous lives: university teacher/researcher, writer.

Now: well along on my 12-step program as a recovering university teacher/researcher and writer. Photography as an art, a discipline, a black-hole for one's time, and a great way to meet new friends has immeasurably helped the recovery process.
