Not another damselfly portrait, Rob?

 

During the Spring and Summer months I photograph a lot of damselflies and I particularly enjoy taking "field-studio" portraits. Damselflies are fascinating to study - they're incredibly beautiful and, at the same time, they're somehow rather weird, particularly when their quirky characteristics are observed close up. I've had more fun photographing them than any other insect I've come across.

 

I regularly make daybreak trips to a nearby lake called Bolder Mere where I enjoy spells of solitude and relative peace and quiet (it takes a few minutes to block out the noise from the A3 that runs alongside!).
