i like rj's photos a great deal because they are simply about documenting a life or many lives, and about travel. What is life if not a voyage, or many voyages that we string together to form our memories. without photographs and our little objects we collect along the way, our funny superstitions, would we remember so vividly? i don't know, but i doubt it. there is a pleasing quality to the utter lack of pretense here and that appeals to me greatly. My own work is more about documenting things and proving that they exist, sometimes even proving that I exist - for RJ, it's about showing us other places in the world, shining a light on something or some place, some person we might otherwise never see or know. I'm grateful for these offerings. Gratful for these gifts. sadi
