I've been surrounded by cool photography, art, architecture since a kid via my father. (He majored in photography before switching to architecture.)
I've been a very casual photographer to date. I've never gone out of my way to seek out instruction for improving my shooting. Occasionally I get lucky with an OK shot.
Some of the better shots end up on my blog. (Don't let the Japanese trouble you. I'm learning Japanese and always include English since my Japanese sucks.)
I had a 110 camera as a teen. My dad gave me an old SLR around 1984, which survived until 2006.
In Jan 2007 we lost almost every one of the 1000+ photos I've taken in a fire — the only thing I really regret losing.
I have a Nikon D80 with a couple of zooms (28-90 and 70-300). Not until I had this camera for a while did I realize that I didn't take pictures too much just because film & development cost a lot.
I look forward to improving my knowledge and skills.
