I've always been a lover of art in any categories!

From performing arts -- such as singing, dancing, acting or any of its combination;

Literary arts -- poetry, stories, journal;

To visual arts -- like drawing, painting, sculpting, and photography.

I've always been fascinated with art, I'm one of those who appreciates it. Tough luck though, I've never been the one to excel from it. And ever since, it had been one of my frustrations to be nifty with particularly one of those I've mentioned.

So, I tried some of them... and still trying out, though.. =D

I've been from our own school/university theater organizations in high school and college. I've directed and wrote scripts for role plays in high school. In college, I had been in minimal roles or someone who works behind the stage (I once was a Stage Manager on a certain play). Although, I don't consider them as disappointments. I just sometimes thought, I would have done better.

I'm into singing too. Been singing in high school and had performed at school or even at our local community for a number. I guess, I could say that it's something I consider a talent. I was a late bloomer though. I've always shied away from being in too much limelight. Back then, I don't usually sing solo. Although after a while, I kinda (almost) gotten over the lack of confidence.

I also love to write, especially on my notebook (not the academic kind and I'm not referring to my laptop =D). I've started writing when I was still in high school (again). I used to write poems whenever I feel down or happy or whatever. I also have my own hand-written journal for that... . Then, I've written stories and my classmates usually read them, until they've got lost, so I stopped the story-writing coz I got disappointed for losing all that I've written. My classmates did enjoy my stories, sometimes they'd request me to write love stories (the girls), but I was never a fan of romantic novels (even now). Then, I made scripts for our play then direct them, which was such an experience, since I had to make my high school classmates to listen to me, imagine that!

I also made drawings. It started quite earlier. I was in grade school that time. I've seen my mom, uncles, and dad draw and they were good at it, so I tried it. Back then, I used to think that I was really good... as good as them. I would show my drawings to mom. But somehow she never really appreciated them or maybe that's what I thought. Coz, as a child, when someone criticized me, it simply puts that I wasn't at all good. So I never tried to show any of my drawings to anyone then. And I never kept them too.

It was just when I was already working, that my co-workers have seen and appreciated them -- my sketches, letterings and my other drawings. I admit, they weren't really something to be called "masterpieces". They're just good enough for me.

Then, there was photography. I've always been amazed with this craft. But I wasn't one of those who could afford to buy the minute I wanted to. So I just satisfied myself with what I had -- my camera phone. I tried it to practice. But camera phones didn't have the look I wanted. Usually grainy, too dark, and not the color I was expecting to see. And the delay of capturing the image! My, my! Then I had my own point and shoot. I enjoyed it though. I tried some shots that did what I expected them too. I also managed to study post-processing in Lightroom and Photoshop. I used them to adjust lights or make scenes a bit more dramatic, enough to be pleasant to the eyes and not to make myself thin or flawless or what. =D

Until I recently bought my own DSLR. Although I bought it second hand, I was happy with it. I, then, studied the how-to's and what-not-to's of photography. I'm still a newbie at this, obvious enough. But I'm willing to learn more and more until I've got "it". I still haven't tried going to any seminars coz my budget wouldn't permit me to. =D And I haven't gone to photowalks neither, I guess I haven't yet found anybody to accompany me on that endeavor. Anyway, I still am using the camera's kit lens (EF-S 18-55mm IS) and a prime lens (50mm f1.8) coz I still don't have the resources to buy much powerful lenses. But so far I'm still satisfied with what I have and the best thing is... I'm totally enjoying it!
