Years ago I understood that only in a few moments is possible await for this world, chaotic and ephemeral the major part of time, get the perfect composition we can tell "beautiful". Chaotic and ephemeral like us. A bright of perfection in the imperfection. That is that a photographer is searching for, the same thing that Cartir-Bresson called "l´instant décisif" and one of my best obsessions. A street in Lisbon or a midnight coffee. Sometimes you haven´t two seconds to take it. Is ephemeral. Another times, you spend hours and hours because the desired image is mistrustful and elusive. In other words, chaotic.

I have studied the big masters and I have admired any artist who had something to show me. Because we are pure subjetivity, I took what I needed. I learned and I forgot the rest, to create my own style. I am photographer because now I know is hard to find that "beautiful" and because, sometimes, the beautiful finds you for just an instant. I am photographer because I am always ready to take that desired beautiful, although most of the time I just look like a fool with a camera.

Años atrás comprendí que solo en instantes puntuales era posible esperar que el mundo, caótico y efímero, se organizase y mostrase algo de lo que podemos llamar belleza, escondida siempre entre los pliegues del espacio-tiempo. Caótico y efímero también como lo somos nosotros mismos. Un destello de perfección dentro de lo imperfecto. Eso es lo que un fotógrafo busca capturar, lo que Cartier-Bresson llamó "l'instant décisif" y que desde hace tiempo me obsesiona. Una calle en Lisboa, o un café a medianoche. A veces sacas la cámara y casi no te da tiempo porque el instante es eso, efímero. Otras en cambio esperas durante horas porque la imagen buscada resulta ser huraña y desconfiada. Caótica.

He estudiado a los grandes maestros y me he dejado empapar de cualquier artista que, a mi juicio, mereciera la pena. Porque somos pura subjetividad, he cogido lo que me valía, aprendí y luego olvidé para crear mi estilo. Soy fotógrafo porque ahora se lo duro que puede resultar encontrar esa belleza y porque también se que a veces esa belleza se presenta de forma inesperada. Soy fotógrafo porque siempre estoy preparado para intentar mantener entre los bordes del fotograma la belleza ansiada, aunque la mayor parte del tiempo solo soy un paria con una cámara.
