SunRail is Central Florida's commuter rail system, set to launch in spring 2014.
The first phase runs from DeBary in Volusia County to Sand Lake Road in Orange County. It covers 32 miles of tracks and includes 12 stations. This phase will be open to passenger service in spring 2014.
We then begin construction on Phase 2, which will extend the line north to DeLand in Volusia County and south into the Poinciana area in Osceola County. This phase will be open for passenger service by 2016.
Our goal is to provide Central Florida commuters with an alternative to I-4 for their daily commutes back and forth between home and work. We are working with LYNX, Votran and private providers to make sure people have good connections to and from their SunRail stations.
SunRail is a project of the Florida Department of Transportation, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Transportation; Orange, Seminole, Volusia and Osceola counties; and the city of Orlando.
Here on our Flickr account, you'll get to see our progress as we start with groundbreaking and work through construction on a new set of tracks; and our platforms, canopies and parking lots.
