Let's see, I'm tall, dark,and handsome.....
...hahaha...okay,.okay .....tall, yes....handsome, maybe...dark? No, not really........
I was led to photography when I dusted off my Canon AE-1 (from the 80's) 3 years ago and took it on an international Habitat-for-Humanity trip to Romania........
Catching the "shutter-bug" (ugh! sorry), my new favorite thing is to romp around Manhattan, trying to capture the essence of this whacked-out island......
Next thing you know, friends started to buy my work, and I did a few silent auctions......
It all came full-circle when my work was discovered by an administrator at Carl Zeiss Lens' New York corporate offices....her suggestion to buy my images to decorate their office walls was met with enthusiasm by the CEO. (please don't hate me guys!)....We drew up a contract and they now have a permanent collection of 100 of my images, 20x30 reproduced on canvas....
There was no way I could ignore the fact that it was a mission trip that gave birth to my new avocation....my Christian faith has been strengthened by this sudden positive turn in my life.....In order to give back, this past May, I decided to do the Habitat for Humanity thing all over again, this time in Poland.....
and now, here I am on flickr......
I love to look at other's work....I am constantly inspired, humbled, amused..... I'm always surprised by the variety of styles and the infinite amount of subject matter that God's magnificent creation contains......and I remain thankful for the photography gift.......

He’s work always brings joy and nothing makes me happier than when out of nowhere, I receive Rich’s visit on my stream – he literally “travels” through my shots and leaves me fantastic and genuine words, that I am not able to return. Although I have never met him and we live miles and miles away, it seems that we know each other. Rich, I truly like your work and I hope to meet you one day and spend some time talking about so many things that come up on our common hobby. Thank you for being such a great contact and a wonderful inspiration!
Read lessGenuinely engaged in others. Has a joie de vivre that is hard to match and, therefore, enviable (in a nice way enviable, not brooding/sulky). Rich makes it clear to encourage that you can go there, too. Lovely, on-the-fly shots that are sometimes so spontaneous as to be combustible in their immediacy.
your photo's make my heart smile Richard!
I don't remember how I met Richard on here, but I'm glad I did ! I can say that I don't think you will find a kinder, more generous person. As so very talented as he is,he doesn't take himself too seriously, and that's a quality I find endearing. He makes me smile with his cute self takes ! He's also a brother in the Lord… Read more

Richard... You truly inspire me as a photographer. I love how you seek out and find such beauty in the most simple and mundane things in this world. Richard... You truly inspire me as a photographer. I love how you seek out and find such beauty in the most simple and mundane things in this world. You have caused me to look twice at everything around me. You have taught me to be proud of myself and my own images (especially those times when I have been hard on myself). I love how you take just a moment to offer a hello or the kindest of comments when nobody else does. You have become a friend I look forward to hearing from because it brightens my day. You truly have become an inspiration in more ways than you will ever know. Thank you for everything... :D

After almost a year on Flickr (which I joined to be able to see pictures of New York) I have to write a few words about Richard, who was one of the first persons who commented my pictures, and never fails to say something nice whatever I post. Not only I found pictures of New York in his photostream, but I lived a whole year of New Year York life. He took me to the iconic places but also to his home, to the soup kitchen where he works as a volonteer, (giving me finally the impulse to do the same), to the restaurant where he works, on walks through the park and to eat in nice little diners. Thanks to Richard I lived a year of New York life as if we lived next door, and one doesn't not find that in other photostreams. His thoughts and ideas on life are always intelligent and thoughtful, and his sense of humour is just refreshing. It lights up your day when you are a little depressed and find one of his pictures, like one of the last ones sitting in Pax eating a soup from a plastic bowl. I reminds me a little of Seinfield: describing every day situations, which we all experience, in a funny way that makes you laugh. Thank you Richard for a year in New York. I'm already looking forward to the next year with you!!
Read lessRichard cannot be described - he must be experienced. It would be difficult to find a more kindly, gentle and humorous personality. He makes his friends feel cared for and important. This zoo called Flickr would be dull and drab without him. Thanks Rich for the good you do all who wander into you photostream.

When I first added him, I was scared that he might laugh at my excuse of photography, but he not only made me a contact and a friend, he seems to find something positive to say about his contacts pics......... Live on, my friend and thank you for the laughter you have brought into my life and the life of others!!

This is so long overdue that I am ashamed! Richard is by far one of my fave flickr pals...his sense of humor, his ability to make fun of himself, his love of people, his love of NYC...he has brought it all to Flickr in abundance! I adore his stream for its diversity. As someone who doesn't live in NYC but would have if circumstances allowed I get to live vicariously through his street scenes, his generosity as he shares his wonderful city! He sees the little details that surely I would overlook in my touristy awe and he brings them to life in his stream. He randomly photographs the people of the city and brings their personality to life in such a candid way. We get to live it all through his eyes!! Thank you Richard! ♥
Read lessIf you look at Richard’s photostream, you’ll realize that successfully managed to achieve what I consider the ultimate goal of photography: extract the essential from the simplest subject without creating a rigid composition. I suggest that you take time to visit his gallery, you will find many greats pictures.
