Hi my name is Richard, currently live in south london , i want to use this site to share railway photo's mainly as i am interested in Trains and railways, mainly heritage Rolling stock from London Transport days, i like travalling, reading , cooking, and sharing my faith in Jesus Christ with others, i currently work in the rail industry, have done for 18 years or so now, i love interesting places and particularly old railway photos, i grew up in Leytonstone east London, originally from Leyton in 1974. Grew up right next door alongside the Central line in Claremont Rd Leyton, spent alot of time around stratford station, the old Temple mills works and channelsea curve complex, remember being taken each sunday to Hackney marshes to run over to the wire fence and watch the class 08's shunting at Temple mills east yard. I am also interested in the 1950's 1960's era in both music and nostalgia. Railways have always been in my blood you might say, as well as growing up next to the central line in the mid 1970's, i had an uncle who was a fitter at stratford locomotive works during the steam days, i joined the railways in 1993 under B.R , then with Railtrack east anglia as a mobile operations supervisor, dealing with points failiures, level crossing failiures, covering rest days in signal boxes, working signal boxes on west anglia section,my signalling career began in 1996 when i became a train recorder or ' box boy ' at Hackney downs signal box, eventually i left to become a rest day relief crossing keeper looking after Highams park & Lincoln road level crossings, finially ending up in 1997 as the resident early turn man at Lincoln road . i was made redundent in 1998 and i left Railtrack to join the overhead line dept at Romford on the Great Eastern. , spent four years working as a maintenence technician on the 25kv overheadline system between London's Liverpool street right the way down as far as southend on sea and colchester. I joined metronet in 2002 working on track upgrade renewals for London Underground renewing track infrustructure on the Central Line and Victoria Line of the Tube network . joined Network rail in 2006 on the heavy maintence side mainly doing switch and crossing renewal work at London waterloo station and on the wessex region, transfered to the pway at wimbledon after a year with heavy maintenence,,and spent four years at wimbledon as a track patrolman on the southern region, currently based with the drainage inspection team at Feltham middlesex,
