I have enjoyed photography ever since I got a little box camera at the age of five. I didn't become serious about photography until the mid-1970s when I got my first used Ricoh SLR and later travelled overland from Europe to India via Afghanistan. My photos of choice then were Kodachrome slides, but I also did a lot of black and white.
Around that time, I took a three-year journalism program that also included courses in photography and photojournalism. When I graduated, I worked as a reporter for several small newspapers where it was expected that reporters would also be photographers.
I've been shooting digital since 1999, and exclusively since 2004. A few of my 2002-2004 pictures were taken with Olympus C4040Z and C5060WZ point-and-shoot cameras, and in 2004 I got a Nikon D70. Since April 2009, I have been using a Nikon D300.
Although I've never worked full time as a photographer, I have sold a number of my photos for publication as well as to individual collectors. I welcome inquiries about licensing and purchasing of my pictures.
