Founded in 1937 as the Rochester Chapter NRHS, and established in Rush, N.Y., in 1971, the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum is New York State's largest and only operating railroad museum. We have more than 40 pieces of historic trains in our collection, including locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, and cabooses; as well as an extensive archive of documents and photographs related to Rochester's rich railroading heritage. Our volunteers constructed and maintain a one-mile private railroad which we offer rides to the public each season from April through October.
