33 year old Dallas based freelance photographer, Ray Detwiler, has been shooting digital for 8 years now, starting with a Canon SD110, and working up to DLSRs from there. He has been perfecting his portrait and lifestyle shooting for the last year. Before this he shot primarily landscape and architecture shots. He got his start in photography upon visiting the Dallas Museum of Art in the fall of 2004. The exhibit that caught his eye the most was a black & white photography exhibit of railroad bridges and trains across the United States. Many of the photos, he thought, were not that special, and he set out to prove that he could take photos just as nice as the ones in the museum. Having just purchased a Canon Powershot SD110 several months before, he started taking pictures of anything and everything. Most were horrible and were of little or no interest. When he wasn't shooting pictures, he was researching and reading anything he could get his hands on related to photography. After hitting a slow period of motivation and inspiration in the summer of 2006, a friend decided to loan him a Canon EOS 350D. This way Ray could find out if it was truly a lack of inspiration, or just the simple fact that his skill level had gone beyond the limits of his point and shoot camera. As suspected, Ray's interest and love for photography exploded anew and he took thousands of pictures during the 6 months he had the camera. Then, in January 2007, Ray purchased his first dSLR and has been enjoying that since. The photos in his portfolio are a collection of his favorite photos, shot with a variety of different cameras and lenses. He still spends just about all his free time growing in photography.

Recently he rediscovered the joy of Legos, and decided to launch on a photo journey documenting the life of one particular minifigure named Stan.
