I'm interested in nature, science, portrait and sports photography - really anything interesting, that captures the eye, the intangible *beauty*, the moment truly *captured*. A photo can record a moment, event - but convey more too, be artistic, inspire, evoke... I don't pretend to understand that... I'm amazed by it....
As a High School Science/IT/Computing teacher, I get to use and experiment with a lot of new technology and see the enthusiasm with which students apply it all, which keeps me enthused as well!
Flickr isn't the only place I share my photos... Tumblr/Instagram and Facebook/Twitter have a much more day to day stream of photos and FB can be protected and organised into unlimited albums so I used that much more after 2011 - I just throw up the odd few on Flickr now. People might well have a variety of uses for Flickr now - an album for special interest photos? Travel diary? I guess now I treat it as a "best of" album, accessible, "junk free" and share a variety of things!
What I've appreciated most about Flickr is the open, communicative aspects of its users, and (being in a small country town and somewhat isolated) exposure to the work of more experienced photographers all over the world - for the most part, I have found Flickrites gracious, sharing and helpfully appreciative - Flickr has a great community vibe to it...

I can't let my one year anniversary on flickr go by without crediting and thanking Daniel of Rexy’s Lightgarden for introducing me to this wonderful world of photographs and the people behind the cameras where I have made many flickr friends worldwide. You might say I am now totally addicted but figure that it is not a bad sort of addiction to foster and certainly a fascinating new hobby. So ..Thank You .. Daniel for your thoughtfulness.. Daniel is a very busy and hands-on family man, a teacher to all who pass his way and a dedicated community worker leaving him little time to devote to his own flickr stream where his photos come from refreshing nature walks and local events, capturing a vast array of subject matter…A friend who is always helpful no matter what the subject or task involved.. My computer and camera skills have been honed by Daniel and only limited by the senior grey matter in my head. In his "!**.^^Spare Time^^.**!" Daniel also rebuilds computers from discarded parts or bargains he finds on E-Bay, ensuring every needy child has the opportunity to experience all that IT has to offer. …I really don’t know what our town would do without Daniel – everybody’s mentor…
