Chris A Owens at RetroVenue
Drag to set position!
Chris discovered the capacity of polymer clay for texture, shapes and color; for making unique durable, wearable and functional art while exploring modern (non-earthen) clays. Her handcrafted veneers encase functional pieces, like pens and water bottles. To create her veneers Chris uses a variety of processes adapted to polymer clay. One requires distressing or embossing and carving layers of alternated colors is named for an ancient metal working technique, makume gane. Processes need tools. A collection of tools ranges for cutting and carving but especially dough rollers, a small extruder and silkscreens. She also designs and creates jewelry, mini-kaleidoscopes and other small items suitable for wearing and gifting.
You may find random bees in her illustrations or on her other works. Chris uses them to honor her maiden name which means beekeeper in Polish - But most of all they are fun. Chris began working in polymer clay about 2007. She studied Graphic Design and holds a Master of Arts in Media Communication. She is a member of the Kentucky Tennessee Polymer Clay Guild.
