Retro Air and Track Photography

About My Photography.
I’ve been photographing vintage aircraft as a serious pastime since 1990. I got access very early on to fabulous collections of airworthy aircraft ranging from pre-war WWII Fighters and Bombers to post-war types of every description. I love the forties, fifties and sixties era best, the men and machines and of course the dames!! I’m passionate about what I do, and have the greatest of respect for the people who carry on the spirit of these years through their work as either retro models or restorers of classic aeroplanes or cars.
Other stuff that interests me includes classic sports racing cars. Over the last few years I’ve started photographing this subject covering the period 1950-69, with a specialist interest in Aston Martin, Jaguar and Ferrari both sports and road GT production types. Adding models in period dress/undress to these collections is a natural progression of my photographic work. I also like the current Retro revival scene here in the UK, and the pin-up genre both past and present.
I have been described as a technical photographer as I very rarely take shots of complete aircraft or cars preferring to go for detail, the cropped in shot, or an unusual angle instead. Current equipment comprises Cannon DSLRs and lenses.
Examples of my work have been published in magazines and books over the past few years. I also had my first book published in 2006.
About ‘Retro, Air & Track’.
The aim of the project is to showcase the UK’s premier collections of vintage civil and military aircraft from the years spanning 1935-1965. Also sports cars both racing and road production types from the years 1950-69. These will be combined with models wearing period dress. This way I get to shoot my three main areas of interest and hopefully combine them in some way.
