The months and days are the travelers of eternity. The years that come and go are also voyagers. Those who float away their lives on ships or who grow old leading horses are forever journeying, and their homes are wherever their travels take them. Many of the men of old died on the road, and I too for years past have been stirred by the sight of a solitary cloud drifting with the wind to ceaseless thoughts of roaming.

-Matsuo Bashō as translated by Donald Keene

I'm just a guy who lives in Tokyo and likes Japanese history.

My primary digital gear consists of a Fujifilm X-Pro2, a Leica D-LUX (Typ 109), and a Sony DSC-RX100M2. I also still get some use out of my old and trusted Sony DSC-HX400V and Sony DSC-HX60V super zooms. These Sonys are great for when you want to REALLY zoom in.

And by the way, my buddy icon isn't a picture of me. That is a picture taken in the 1860s of the last Shogun of Japan, Tokugawa Yoshinobu.

I am a big fan of Japanese history, so I always look forward to reading historical notes and travel diaries of Rekishi no Tabi. His images help me plan me next Japanese trip -- both real and imagined ones.
