I've been retired for a number of years
after over 4 decades of working with computers.
I think it's wrong for us as photographers to consider
ourselves as producing accurate representations of what we see.
That's like using the camera as a Xerox machine
to produce a photocopy.
We should strive to create art with our cameras.
Photography is...............................
A good combination of art and technology.
I enjoy studying photography.
What do other photographers think.
Light, exposure, composition...
I believe..........................................
A photograph has no obligation to ressemble the subject.
The image is mine saith the photographer.
I will make any changes I so desire.
A photograph is my reaction to the subject.
Between the subject, the camera, and I,
we may be creating art. But not a photocopy! :-)
Again, results should be more than the components.
Art is..................................................
an enhanced method of communication.
Art has the ability to speak directly to our inner selves
It can speak to the limbic parts of our brain.
The parts that control our respiration, our perspiration,
our adrenalin, our libido...
We should be careful to pay attention to our reactions
and not lose those in our conscious analysis of art.
The Lascaux cave..........................
Wonderful images capturing and
communicating the very essences of reality.
Great examples for a photographer to keep in mind
and strive to recreate as far as the power of the result.
I enjoy making my own beer. And drinking it.
Beermaking is a good combination of art and technology.
The result is more than the sum of the components.

Friendly and helpful the kind of person you would want from a neighbor, Reid is a prolific nature photographer whose images continually captivate me! With fantastic macro skills he has an uncanny ability to bring us in on the details of nature in an engaging and entertaining way! Happy to call him a Friend, Louis

The universe of his photography goes from microcosms to galaxies, but they all convey to the same idea: harmony and beauty are … Read more

The universe of his photography goes from microcosms to galaxies, but they all convey to the same idea: harmony and beauty are highly linked and it's up to us to protect this fragile balance.
