The refugia project is a collaboration between the universities of Durham and York. Our aim is to discover how the characteristics of natural landscapes lead to 'refugia' from climate change - safe havens that protect wildlife from adverse changes in the climate.

This Flickr contains selected photos we took during our field campaigns of summer 2016 and 2017. We conducted national surveys for four species of northern butterfly, all of which may face range retractions due to climate change this century.
