Hello, I am Dave and I live in Newcastle not far from the airport.

I love photography, wildlife, my dogs, local history, reading and anything aviation.

I had always been after a 35mm SLR camera so until I started adult work I couldn’t afford one. My dream was to own a Nikon fm2……..but I had to settle for an Olympus OM-10 which cost me £110.00 from Bonsers of The Bigg market Newcastle Upon Tyne. Sadly they have just shut up shop before xmas.

I used to plane spot and went on a few trips with Air North. They organised trips to air shows and airports around the country. My camera came with me on some of those trips. So you might see a lot of my old photos of aircraft scanned from slides and prints. I had hoped to get a dark room but after about 4 years I sold all my 35mm stuff. So i had to do with a compact camera.

I entered the digital age in 2003 with my little 4 megapixel Olympus compact camera. Fantastic photos and my pc was the dark room I never got.

June 2006 was my DSLR stage. Olympus E500 was my pride and joy. Wow what a camera and two lens. So I took to taking a few aircraft as well as my everyday photo’s realising how much I missed taking aviation photos.

So my next stage is my Nikon D5200, yes I eventually got my Nikon….my daughter bought me it for a present, the best present anyone has ever gave me!

And now with my new Tamron 70-300 lens a new world of photos is beckoning.
