Photography is a hobby that helps me stay visually awake and attuned to my surroundings. I enjoy sharing images with others on Flickr and seeing their work as well. These days I use the camera I have with me, my cell phone. It's OK for posting here; for printing, not so much. I've been all-digital since around 2001. My first digital camera was an Olympus 3030Z, and the latest is a now ancient and rarely used Olympus PEN E2. I shot film with a Minolta X700 and a Fuji GSW690III. I shot mostly color negatives for printing. In the 1970s and 1980s I shot mostly 35mm slides, and some B+W, with a Pentax KX and a Rollei 35 rangefinder that my dad had. Many of the negatives and slides have been scanned, and shared on my photostream, with a Nikon Super Cool Scan 8000 or an Imacon Flextite X1 scanner.

I have posted mostly urban landscape images from the 1990s through the present. I draw inspiration from the work of Joel Sternfeld, Stephen Shore, Joel Meyerowitz, Len Jenshel, William Eggleston, Walker Evans, W. Eugene Smith, Eugene Atget, John Singer Sargent, Edward Hopper, and Vermeer, among many others.
