Raymond Mullikin is an educator and cartoonist, who is currently pursuing his teaching credential and Masters Degree in Education.

Ironically, Raymond is seeking a career he had never thought he was capable of doing. “I have always thought teaching to be a very noble career,” said Raymond, when interviewing himself for this About Me section on Facebook. “I just didn’t feel that I was capable of dealing with 30+ feisty children in a classroom.” He had originally sought after a career in cartooning, a job he had desired ever since he was 5 years old. “I had created ads and comics for local newspapers since I was a kid,” said Raymond. “My first ad was published at age 12. In college I did a couple animated films for some independent film theaters, which was fun doing for awhile, but very time consuming. I’ve also tried publishing my own children’s books, graphic novels, and video games.”

While he was taking graphic design classes in college, he started working and volunteering at the Templeton Unified School District. “It all started in high school, when I was invited to the Elementary and Middle schools to do drawing lessons with the children,” recalled Raymond. “Before I knew it, I found my self teaching fitness wheel, art, and other things to packs of children every week. I don’t know what happened!”

Raymond soon developed a strong interest in teaching. When his cartoon magazine series sales dropped to nothing, he decided to switch gears and get a career in teaching. “And I haven’t looked back since...” Raymond said. Then after a pause, “We’ll I might have taken a little peek...”
