See you at the next curve is one of the ideas behind the name of my nextcurve photoblog which I now publish on Flickr. There is always something new to see around the corner and each experience will improve your next shot.

My interest in photography started at an early age with my father, who as an amateur photographer took many photos of our family and the scenes around him. He developed and enlarged the photos himself in our improvised darkroom (which doubled as our bathroom ). Therefore I have a lot of beautiful childhood pictures for which I’m very grateful. This has, further on in my life, always inspired me to snap pictures wherever I am.

In April 2009, I moved from Den Helder 123 km down south to The Hague. Leaving a familiar place where one has lived for about 18 years is not easy. I’ve always loved the dunes, beaches, sea and all nature has to offer in the area.

Even though Scheveningen beach and the sea is ten minutes away, it is crowded and feels different. We’ll see what photo opportunities the big city life presents.

I love animals and animal behavior, and lucky me, Rotterdam Zoo (also called Blijdorp) is only a 30 mins drive away! Needless to say I got me a yearpass. It’s very much relaxing walking around all day in this beautiful Zoo or just sitting near one animal for while.

The kit I have build revolves around versatility for both digital and film photography. Each item must be inter-changeable between the D4s and F4s. This brings me to my love and passion for oldkool Nikkor’s, metal build, pristine glass and virtually indestructible.

I use various tools to shoot with depending on where I’m going and if weight, size or quality is important. Keep in mind, the goal is the picture and the tools come second. Shoot with passion.
