At the age of 15, I had no knowledge of photography, yet I joined the high school newspaper in 1970 as an extracurricular activity. The darkroom was in need of someone to develop black and white film and make prints, but one day, I was unexpectedly given a camera and tasked with covering a school soccer game due to the regular photographer's illness. Lacking any understanding of camera settings, I was armed with a camera, a 24-exposure roll of 35mm B&W Kodak film, and a quick lesson on aperture and speed. My early attempts were largely unsuccessful, yielding more images of goalpost shadows and park benches than action shots of players, sometimes causing me to get in trouble. However, this sparked a passion for photography that has grown into a cherished hobby. Recently, my focus on themes like doors, windows, porticos, landscapes, seascapes, and woodlands has taken me to various places, both close to home and distant lands, including Ontario, Canada; Newfoundland Labrador, Canada; Portugal, and Italy.
Custom prints of my work are available for purchase, as well as blank (5"x7" message cards (featuring a 4"x6" photograph) with envelope. My contact information is: randalpenneyphotography@gmail.com
