For most of my adult life I have been involved in outdoor and nature photography. My travels have taken me to all 50 U.S. states and nearly forty countries. My camera goes with me on all of my travels. Since 2006 I have been shooting exclusively digital, starting with a Nikon D70, and then upgrading to a full-frame Nikon D700 in 2010, then a Nikon D810 in 2016, and in 2021 a Nikon D850. Since 2010 I have done over a dozen photo workshops. Many have been in Utah, including all five of the state's national parks. I have also done workshops in the California Redwoods, the Eastern Sierras, the Olympic Peninsula, Costa Rica, Colorado's San Juans, and the Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge in New Mexico.
I live in Oak Park, Illinois, just outside of Chicago, but I have done much of my work in the western U.S. For a long time my major focus has been desert, mountain and other landscapes, but I've been branching out into other areas, including patterns and abstracts in nature, wildflowers, and people. Most recently my work has focused on wildlife, including a 2020 (just before the Covid-19 pandemic) trip to Uganda and an August 2021 trip to Alaska, which included a photo shoot of Kodiak bears. More recently I have returned to Africa, visiting South Africa, Madagascar, Zimbabwe and Zambia. In the past few years I have also recently visited Machu Picchu in Peru, the Galapagos, and Antarctica. My Flickr postings also include European cityscapes.
