Spike's photography is a very true portrait of what he is as a person. A friendly, caring, and passionate soul. He's able to capture a moment in time that might trigger back a thought or a sensation that you might have experienced if you were right there. His photos give us a glimpse into what makes him one of the most unique people I know. I honestly can't say enough about how great of a person he is... keep the photos rocking!

Spikes real passion always seems to shine through despite his ever busy life, but he manages to put his all into his photography and ends up producing some remarkable images. Sprinkled with a shot of humor, his photostream quickly becomes a fun and inspirational place to visit. His travels afford him the opportunity to photograph scenes that I never will, making me envious to no ends. Plus, his generosity to others makes him a true saint. Many times I've had to ask for advice on something and he was always willing to help out a hack like me. His selfless promotion of individuals and organizations have motivated many others to give back to their communities. All with a unique flair and style that says 'Spike!'. This plus the fact that he's the biggest goofball I know makes him a riot to hangout with. Which makes it really hard to imagine that he's a radio guy....

O.k. ... my turn. What to say first about this amazing man. Met him through the Exposure.Detroit group and was blown away by his warmth and friendliness for a person of his celebrity status. Check out the variety of AMAZING pictures in his photostream. Anywhere from a beautiful flower, to an abandoned building, to a sweet smiling little girl ... they are all fabulous. The one thing that impressed me most about this man is his love of family. His girls are obviously the loves of his life. It is apparent in the photos he lakes of them in just their everyday lives. From dance class to coloring easter eggs, I love to see what they are up to now. Keep taking those fantastic photos Spike. But most of all ... just keep being the wonderful Daddy that you are !

I was drawn to Spike's photos long before I learned about his "real" job. Having had the chance to meet him and shoot photos with him on several occasions has been a great experience; he's funny, respectful and a good buddy. His portfolio varies from art shots to simple documentary-type photos of Detroit, life and his daughters. As a person, one would expect a local media celebrity like him to be arrogant (enter your preferred adjective here about show biz people) but he is, surprisingly, a truly nice and simple guy. The only bone I have to pick with Spike is that he doesn't invite me when he does certain photo sessions... ;)

First and foremost, t's clear just how his energy and passion show through in his portfolio of work, which spans from sports to artistic shots to beautiful moments in the lives of his children. In addition to Spike's own strong body of work, he continuously contributes feedback to others including myself, which helps us grow and improve as well. When I look through his portfolio, I admire how he approaches his subjects, and he is a photographer whose work I continue to learn from.

I recently had the opportunity to meet Spike during a social gathering in downtown Detroit that involved a photography project. It was obvious to me that he had as great of a passion for photography as myself...and that says a lot! Through his radio work, I've known of him for quite some time and am now glad to say that I know HIM, the individual. I had come across his work through the internet and was impressed with what I saw. Great photographers are hard to find, and when I saw that he was a local, it was definitely thrilling. As we got in contact with one another, I noticed his enthusiasm for photography and really appreciated the way he shared his love for it. Ok, here goes... About spike, although I have never met him in person, he is the reason I started on flickr. I heard that he was having a show downtown that i was unable to attend, but a friend sent me the link to his flickr page. Ok I knew that spike was a creative person because he kills me with laughter every morning on the radio, but "WOW" he definatly has the eye for photography, his images are beautiful and very artistic, I love his black & whites. Lesson 1: Spike is not who you think he is. --------------------------------------------------------- Oh sure, he loves the fun. He loves the booze. He loves his celebrity status. YOU WOULD, TOO. Spike is, however, a wonderful husband and, by far, one of the best Daddies I've ever known. Look at the way he frames his children. Take a closer look at the looks ***they give him***. There's a lotta love in that room. I've had the great pleasure of being around his family quite extensively, and there aren't too many people I'm prouder to call 'friends' than Spike and his family. They are compassionate and generous beyond words. Lesson 2: He's just scratching the surface. --------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. Spike must've been drunk on the couch. Spikey got himself a new body. He got new glass. These facts, of course, don't mean anything, really. However, you will get to see the rebirth of a REAL photographic eye. I've seen the man's film work (of which he is slowly sharing with you now). I know how intensely creative this man is. Just wait until you see what he does with this new camera. I can't wait to do some weekend photo excursions with him. Ok, kids: school's out. You now have the background with which to fully enjoy Spike's work (and please don't throw your caps -- you'll put an eye out!)
