We all know Rachel's photography rocks. We have all been inspired by her. What many, sadly, do not have the pleasure of knowing is that she rocks about a million times more in person. I am so grateful to have her as a FRIEND, not just a Flickr-friend now...and she is one of the few reasons I wish I still lived in the Pac NW!

If any single photographer has altered the way I see, it's Rachel-B. We share some loves—for rust (who doesn't?) and crust and contrast-y goodness. We both are fans of in-camera composition, whose crops are purposeful and sometimes severe. But it's Rachel's processing—her shots of ordinary items rendered breathtakingly dramatic—that has made me rethink what I shoot and why. Sometimes I find myself working on a photograph and thinking: this is so Rachel! I can't think of a better compliment, really—that imitation and flattery thing being so true. But better than all is that Rach is such a dear person—deliciously wicked (disguised as sweet) and with a fine sense of humor. Though she is much younger than I am, I have no doubt we'd be friends in real life. She is at the top of the list for a west coast visit. Cheers to one of Flickr's—and the world's—finest photographic artists.
