3 Quintas - Accommodation and Retreats/Events in Algarve's Nature near the Sea - Ria Formosa natural park

What has started 20 years ago at Quintamar with nature-based tourism and tranquil accommodations has grown into Tres Quintas. It is situated within the protected Ria Formosa Natural Reserve and consists of Quintamar, Quinta Pomar, and Vistamar - coming in mid-2025 - a house with two additional apartments.

Quinta Pomar provides accommodation as well and an event space surrounded by orchards, gardens, and again a tranquil, natural swimming pool – all around 500 meters away from the sea. Coming in mid-2025, Vistamar will introduce a house with two additional apartments.

The history of our house in the Ria Formosa natural park in Portugal goes back over 150 years. At that time people lived from agriculture and fishing. After the Quintas had decayed, we renovated and rebuilt them.

Where we are

Tres Quintas is located 500 meters from the fishing village of Santa Luzia with its promenade, restaurants and little shops. The historic Roman town of Tavira, about 2.5 kilometer away, can be reached by bicycle or by car on a country track through the small farmholds and orchards or along the coast.

How to get to us

It takes about 45 minutes by car from Faro airport and two and a half hours from Lisbon. Seville is a two-hour drive away. You can come to us by train as well.

Swimming

One can swim from April till the end of October in the sea. Alternatively there's there are two natural swimming pools in front of Quintamar, Quinta Pomar and Vistamar. The swimming pool tends to be slightly warmer than the sea. A small train on Tavira Island leads to the the 12-kilometer-long sandy beach. If you leave the monitored part, you are soon alone in nature. The Atlantic in the Algarve is one of the cleanest coastal areas in Europe. We are pleased that our beach, the Praia do Barril, has again been awarded the "Blue Flag" quality seal by the EU.

Sports

There are local kite surfing or paddle board rentals available, which we can put you into contact with. There are also scuba diving possibilities.The coastal terrain and climate is ideal for excursions by bicycle. You can hire bicycles through us and they will be delivered to you at Quintamar, to set out exploring the region right away.

Dolphins

If you want to see them in the nature – there are several organisations in the region offering to take our guests to their playgrounds. Beware however; there is no guarantee that you will actually see the playful animals. But it is well worth taking the chance.
