No standards, even less knowledge, and the capacity for total ineptitude in many different things.

Little art, and no craft at all.

If I like it, I'll shoot it.

I enjoy flickr and welcome anyone's comments or criticisms of my pics, and how they might be improved, or their preference for framing etc. At times I post a couple of framings, or a couple of treatments that might be of interest to others. I do not do too much to my pics other than slightly brighten and increase the contrast, and often slightly decrease the gamma. I shoot lots of water by choice, and that seems to be a good treatment for most shots, and it is fairly simple and retains the basic character of most pictures. I do not have any photoshop program, but I admire some of the stuff shoppers do to their pics.

I invite you to look at my favorites, many have come from my contacts, and most are basic photos with a minimum workup.

I also have put in a gallery of my contacts best recent pictures. I follow some of my contacts closer than others, but do check the "dailies" quite often. I invite you to look through my gallery and make whatever comments you like, and also thank those contacts I include pictures from. Hope you are not offended by my remarks. I have never met my contacts, but have corresponded with some on more than one occassion, so you might see me pick at them a little in my comments, not meanly, just teasing. I will try and change it fairly regularly. If you see one of your pics come and see what I said, and get your two cents in!

This August got up fishing and had a nice trip, caught a few muskies and got a few pictures and had an unusual run of three days where it happened to have unusually clear weather, with water that was very reflective, no wind, and cloud banks developing and moving in without a breeze. Shot a bunch of pics, and ended up with about 5 really good cloud water reflection shots, and will eventually post the group. I have had one up, "Pick an Island", and I have whored that around Flickr, and have really been gratified by the response. I knew I was getting something when I was shooting, but you can't tell until you see them. What was unique about this group was that the color and reflection was coming through stronger in the camera shots than I could really see by eye. I only had an ultraviolet filter on, no polarization, and I was hopeful but afraid when I put them up on the computer I would lose a lot. I was surprised by their quality. You gotta love a digital. Never would have been able to shoot 150 just to get 5 with film. I was shooting out of a boat, and I have never been able to hold my horizons as good as I like out on water, and between that, slight breezes, other boat wakes, camera wiggle, you can chuck a lot of water pics.

IHope you guys catch the good light, and keep snappin.

Jay
