Ansel Adams said photography is about knowing where to stand, and that's the key to it.

Have one published photo and one paying gig to my credit in 4 years lol does that qualify as professional??

That's about it. I'm old enough to feel young and young enough to not feel old. I think this has nothing to do with chronology.
