I was born in Worcester Massachusetts in August of 1973. Dad is a bit of a fan, and I remember looking through his album of 126 format prints while growing up. Mostly Penn Central SD40's and F-units on the Lake Shore Limited.
We took a Road trip West in the Summer of 1985, and I was hooked on trains after that. Driving South from Mt. Rushmore, we followed the CNW line from Rapid City to Chaderon. Later that afternoon, South of Alliance, we did see a BN coal train with U-boats and SD40-2's. As soon as we got home, I started to hang around the Worcester Amtrak station. Conrail C30-7a's and C32-8's were the norm then.
After High School, and a year in the Convience Store industry, I hired out with Conrail on April 8th, 1993. I am still Gainfully employed as a Conductor with CSX Transportation. Working in Framingham MA, and Living in East Brookfield MA, with my wife Becky, and Bassett Hounds Princess and Flash.
Started out with a Pentax K1000 at age 13. After a bad experience with a Low end Nikon wiz-bang auto-everything camera, bought a Nikon FM-2. Still have the K1000 and FM-2. Tinkered with a Medium Format Mamiya 645e in Late 2000. Had I stayed with film, this was the way to go. Those images sure are nice when projected!
Today, I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel (300D). 50EF f1.4, and 70-200 f2.8L. Someday, I will upgrade to a Rebel XTi or larger Canon, but first, I need some nice wide angle 'L' glass.
