A few months ago my CoolPix 990 suffered the same auto-focus locking problem that it's been plagued with in the past. It sat, collecting dust, for several weeks before I found an online guide to fixing it.

After following the directions I was able to realign the part of the auto-focus mechanism that was causing the intial problem. I carefully put it all back together again and -- viola -- it worked!

It was only when I tried taking pictures with the camera that I noticed I had somehow managed to do something very funky with the color sensors inside the camera.

The only post-processing work done on these images are (a) a boost the contrast and (b) an occasional boost in color saturation. All of the truly Trippy effects are now how my CoolPix is seeing the world.
