I consider myself an ordinary person but what I see through my camera is unique to me. Photography is a tool that I use to express my perceptions of this weird and wonderful world we all inhabit. When I view old photos, I am struck by the thought that when that photo was taken, it was not as exciting as when it is viewed now, fifty years or more later. So I am trying to document the everyday things that make up my ordinary life and maybe one day in the future, someone will look at my photos and be able to get to know me through them. I enjoy being a member of Flickr and viewing my fellow Flickr members photos. The pictures I enjoy most are the ones that let me see where and how they live, their pets, their neighbourhood, what they eat for breakfast, who they love, etc!

Of course I also enjoy architecture, landscape, gardens and all the other genres of photography. As for gear, I am not a gearhound. I prefer to travel light without a lot of stuff hanging off of me. If I want something fancy, I have access to my husband and son's collection of cameras and lenses. My philosophy is- Take the picture! I shoot in raw and then process in Lightroom which I find very enjoyable. Film was great and still is but it is nice to be in control of the end product and to be able to take as many pictures as you desire without worrying about the cost of film and developing. My hero is Henri Cartier-Bresson, who never went anywhere without his camera, patiently waited for the right moment for a shot, composed his picture in the camera and abhored cropping. What I enjoy most about photography is the taking of the picture, looking through the viewfinder, composing the shot and then CLICK!, preserving that moment forever in time.
