Amnesty International’s Protect The Human campaign embodies what Amnesty is all about: people from all over the world joining together to protect the basic human rights we all share on the historic 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

It starts with a simple pledge – the belief that every human is entitled to a basic set of rights, regardless of their race, religion, gender, nationality or social status. And it uses the power of media – film, music, art – to inspire activism and action.

By joining Amnesty supporters in taking specific actions – as well as expressing yourself through photos, videos, artwork, and music – you can raise awareness to help stop torture. End the killing in Darfur. Demand the closure of Guantánamo. Challenge China’s human rights record including its actions in Tibet. Stop violence against women. And work for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners unjustly denied their freedom.

In addition to contributions from everyday people and well-known artists, the campaign will include television spots, print ads, outdoor media, online activities, and a variety of on-the-ground events.

Amnesty International is the world’s largest human rights organization with 2.2 million members worldwide in over 150 countries. The goal of the Protect the Human campaign is to inspire more people to become involved in one of the greatest movements of our time: the movement to make the rights articulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights a reality for countless more individuals. We can’t do it alone, but there is strength in numbers. Human rights belong to all of us, but they must be protected by each of us.

Join the movement today, and bring the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to life.
