My passion for photography is the result of being largely self-taught. Back in '68, my father sent the family to Italy for the summer to discover our roots and meet the Italian side of the family. My brother Mike and I were entrusted with a Kodak Super 8mm movie camera and a small film camera. From the Alps in the north to the rustic villages in Puglia where my parents were born, we photographed the people and places we saw, becoming self-taught photojournalists in the process.

Well, I was hooked and have seldom travelled without a camera. Photography has become for me a way of seeing in everyday life. Even when I don't have a camera with me, I find myself framing scenes, choosing angles and clicking the shutter in my mind. Over the years, I have focused on my passion, learning the process of taking the images on film and developing them on photographic paper. As a freelance photojournalist, my images have appeared in the Illinois Entertainer, Chicago Tribune and Living Blues magazine.
