Originally from North Attleborough, Massachusetts, I was taking photographs when Matthew Brady was still a darkroom assistant. I guess that makes me a "Seasoned Citizen", as I read in another Flickr profile. I've been into photography since I was about 12, when I bought my first camera, a used Graflex, 35mm. Loved that little camera... no light meter and no auto focus, but it took GREAT photos. But alas, I'm just an amateur having fun... I've done just about everything in photography from developing to printing, and have dealt with everything but glass plates. I even did a short stint as the NCOIC of a small photo lab in the Army. (I just missed riding with Custer.)

This is my first venture into digital photography. (Old stuff: I have most recently used a Canon S5 IS, a Canon Rebel XSi 450D, and a Canon EOS 50D with an EF-S 18-55mm IS Zoom)and a Canon EOS 7D. Right now, I use a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with an EF-S 18-200mm IS and I have an EF 100-400mm L IS USM Telephoto Zoom, and a 180mm L USM Macro.

I'm wheelchair bound, but don't let that stop me. I shoot 50-200 photos every day, almost, and am having fun. Keeps me busy and off the streets. Actually, it keeps me on the streets, but out of trouble. I started taking photos of flowers, mainly because they are so colorful and diverse. It seemed to be my forte, but I'll take pictures of just about anything as long as it has color, shape, and texture. I just recently (Oct 2008) got into birding and only wish I had known it was this much fun years ago. Now I spend more time chasing birds than flowers, though I must admit flowers are more cooperative.

I've just become a big Kindle freak!!! I used to read about 3-4 books a year, mainly because my eyes would get tired and reading was a chore. Since I got my Kindle on the 3rd of April 2009, I have read 50+ books in six months. I also have a couple dozen reference books which I refer to constantly. If you've been thinking about it, stop thinking and get one.

I'm a Vietnam Veteran. A member of the Alexander Hamilton Post 448 of the American Legion, I edited the Newsletter for about two years. In 2009, I was elected to the Office of Third Vice Commander (sort of like being the 3rd runner-up to Miss America, doesn't mean anything unless a whole lot of people get into big trouble). Re-elected to the office of 3rd VC in 2010, I resigned in October to take the Office of Adjutant (nobody else wanted the job and I was "volunteered").

I'm a big SF Giants fan, but having been born in Massachusetts, I'll always be a Red Sox fan too.
