There are such remarkable captures of life in the pictures to be seen on flickr - such extraordinary depictions of art here. I am so grateful for so many who post their art - it is inspiring and also revealing of the connection to a global reality that is easy to lose sight of in the busyness of one's day.

There is that tension for me between being a tourist and a pilgrim, so to speak, on this earth. There is much that visually attracts my attention. Yet, when I go in search of it - that flower, that building, that curve in the stream where the water flows just right - then I know I'm just a tourist with a camera dictating my every shot. It is, rather, those moments when I happen to have my camera close by and I awake to some stirring of light, or shape, or beauty, or serendipitous occurrence that captures my imagination long enough to have it inform me - oh those are the moments I treasure. Don't we all? So, I live most days in that tension, and often without my camera anywhere near by...and learn to appreciate whatever is before me. And when I can capture a moment now and again that is about the journey of life, then I feel most alive.

I am 'trainable' - I tell myself. I have much to learn from so many on their flickr pages. I do not feel I have 'found' my voice, or style, or niche through photography yet - but I am still on the journey!

PrayerSpaces is a very inspirational photographer. Her photographs make you look more then once, as there is usually so much to see. Her use of color and focus (or sometimes lack of) conveys emotion, thought and beauty. I look forward to opening up my Flickr and seeing what she has posted each day!
