Pietro Paolo Santini
Drag to set position!
My name is Pietro Paolo Santini.
I live in Italy and I'm the CFO of a well known furniture company.
I'm very fond of rugs & textiles and my peculiar interest is structural analysis.
I'm not a dealer but only an enthusiast collector and "rug seeker". I'm following a personal way of learning about antique rugs & textiles.
I buy exclusively original pieces from trusted sources in order to study, analyze and catalogue them for personal learning and self satisfaction. My trusted sources are:
- mainly German and UK auction houses;
- occasionally a couple of Turkish dealers (not operating through Internet) coming to Italy twice a year.
I'm not necessarily interested in "near to mint condition" textiles. On the contrary, I think most of the faults that a skilful eye can reasonably attribute to age are more than acceptable in antiques.
Above all, instead, I try to take extremely care in selecting textiles that I consider interesting because of their:
- weave balance;
- relationship quality-price.
My preference goes to weave fabrics of strong nomadic taste.
Sometimes I re-sold the pieces I have bought from trusted sources and analyzed for personal learning through Ebay (my ID is pps66), because this is the easiest way I know to find money to re-invest in antiques rugs & textiles. I'm not used to apply any mark-up to my occasional Ebay sales.
As experienced connoisseur of antique rugs & textiles and related Internet resources and dealers I think I can help any unskilled customer or beginning collector to buy more consciously.
My dream would be to turn my passion for antique rugs & textiles into a proper business, offering consulting and brokerage services to unskilled customers or beginning collectors.
But, how better can I explain who I am and what I do than showing a brief selection of rugs, trappings and kilims I have re-sold through Ebay?
So, please take a look ... and do not hesitate to contact me any question will be welcomed!
