Mavis is a nickname I started using in college (it's the name Margaret uses in Judy Blume's "Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret" when she writes in her boy book.) as my pen name.
I'm an Aspiring Photographer in Portland Oregon.
I love rusty things, black and white photography, old buildings and grafitti... I enjoy going on photo outings whenever I possibly can.
I recently participated in my first group show at the Core Gallery in Portland Oregon (6/7/07). Followed by two group shows at The 100th Monkey Studio and art gallery in SE Portland www.the100thmonkeystudio.com/
In 2009 a photograph I took in the Columbia Gorge was used in an online presentation for the latest Maya Lin installation "The Confluence Project" which documents the Lewis & Clark story through the Native American experience. That was a big honor as I really like her work and love living in the NW.discover the Confluence Project here ~ www.confluenceproject.org/
Also in 2009, author John Jung asked to use a photograph I took in Portland's Chinatown of the Hung Far Low sign. He used it on the back cover of his latest book: "Sweet & Sour: Life in Chinese Family Restaurants".
