My first exposure to photography was in the 70s. I'd stay in the darkroom for hours. I read everything I was able to get my hands on. I studied light, the zone system, as well as composition, and now, things digital. It does not end.

A few years ago, I sold nearly all my gear and bought an M3. The camera is capable of producing beatiful images, however for me it's still hit or miss.

I don't use a light meter and prefer to practice the sunny 16 rule. In that regard, success is not yet guaranteed.

I hope to get back into the dark room soon.

As far as digital is concerned, I need an upgrade. I haven't made up my mind --- EP2, GF1, X1, or or X100. Requirements follow: compact, high quality images, fast lens, and aperture priority. Feel free to send me your suggestions.

Update: I picked up an Olympus XZ-1. Nice little camera --- so far...

Update: May 2024 - The Olympus XZ-1 frustrates me. I need something like my Leica M3, but digital, yet affordable. I'm considering the Fujifilm Xe4 - small, lots of manual controls and interchangeable lenes.
