Custom Photographic was a lab - a service business to photographers. In the old days, this meant developing film and making prints and enlargements with analog optical and photo-chemical processes. More recently the darkrooms and processors were replaced with scanners, a large-format printer and Photoshop. My wife and I owned and operated this business for several decades.
In March of 2020 we had been semi-retired for some years, working only a few hours a day. When it became obvious that it would be imprudent to continue to come in the shop, given our age and assorted vulnerabilities, we closed up. At the time, we didn’t know if it would be permanent, but that’s how it turned out.
Now happily retired, I spend time on my own photographic whimsies and enjoy sharing the results on Flickr. I've also made some Photoshop actions, which you can download for free here:

Each photograph is purest ectoplasm,
Part of the way light creases the window-sill,
A teacup’s ring is glimmered on the table,
Kind thoughts lie pencilled in a Fairy Book.

he was a photographer and had made the dim enlargement of Mrs. Wilson’s mother which hovered like an ectoplasm on the wall.

Bill is an amazing photographer! Whenever I get the chance to hang out with Bill, it never fails to amaze me the attention he pays to each and every detail in a scene in order to create what he feels will be the perfect shot. I also like that Bill is not afraid of being creative in his photography using varied techniques to come up with unique portraits that are truly "one of a kind". Bill is an amazing person and a great photographer who is very down to earth and I wish there were more people in the photography world like him.
