I live in Shoeburyness on the old Military Garrison....just east of Southend on Sea in Essex, I've been a chef for the last 25 years and spend much of my free time travelling and taking photos, I rarely go out without at least one camera.
I started meeting fellow Flickr folks and thats when it all really started to click for me, gaining the insight and tips from friends that were so experienced gave me the confidence to go out and experiment more.
I upgraded my kit in February 2011 and am the proud owner of a 5D mk2 nowdays, I still have my 400d that I started out with. I did a short Photoshop course in late 2009 and started dabbling with HDR soon after. I have to stop myself sometimes from getting too carried away in post processing but love the creativity that it gives....
I have a few images in publications and have my first image going in to an Exhibition at the National Maritime Museum in Spetember 2011, its due to run for 10 years.
I hope you find something you like in my Photostream and I,m always happy to answer any Questions or help if you see something you want to ask about..

Paul is one of the good guys and has been an inspiration and constant source of help and encouragement to me ever since I joined flickr. This community is very fortunate to have someone as talented, thoughtful and generous as he is. Paul produces consistently excellent photos that are interesting and attractive to look at, as well as easy to access and interpret. This is because they are invariably very well composed and skilfully processed. He achieves this from a range of subjects and places, both familiar and unfamiliar to me. We live in fairly close proximity and one of the things that impresses me most is how Paul is able to view things in an original way, without being either flashy or pretentious in his work. He does this because he has a natural eye for a good photo that no amount of technical ability alone can provide. It is a gift. Paul is very approachable and has gone out of his way to kindly offer feedback and advice on my photos, which has helped me to improve. He gladly and unselfishly gives credit where he feels it is due and doesn't usually dwell on things that aren't so good. Being the naturally over-sensitive type, I particularly value this approach. Photography at its best can be an art and a pleasure. Paul makes both seem within reach. For that and a good deal more I'd like to thank him very much.

I came across Paul's photostream quite by accident, reading his profile he stated "I've Been messing around with my first ever Digital SLR since February 08", well if those images are produced in a messing about mode, one wonders what will happen when he really gets to grips with his D_SLR. Paul is a natural photographer, regularly presenting wonderful photographs, he is also very generous with his comments and has a lovely sense of humour. I look forwards to seeing many more of his photographs.
