We at Playworks Oakland-East Bay believe in the power of play. Our recess programs, before/after-school programs and developmental sports leagues serve over 16,000 low-income students across four dozen elementary schools in the East Bay Area everyday.

Playworks is a national nonprofit organization that supports learning by providing safe, healthy, inclusive play and physical activity to elementary schools. Playworks is the only nonprofit organization in the country to send trained, full-time coaches to low-income, urban schools. These coaches transform chaos at recess into a positive experience; allowing these children the chance to return to the classroom engaged and ready to learn.
