When I was a kid (1960's), my Dad had a darkrooms so my photographic interest started there. A Canon A1 was my main gear back in the 1980's, but after drifting out of photography for 15 years, I joined the Northallerton Camera Club in September 2006 after owning an Olympus C5050Z for 3 years. A Canon 30D, 5D, and a bag full of Canon lenses has given way to a Canon 1Ds Mk III, Canon 1D Mk III, and Canon 1V HS (film) and about 10 "L" lenses. Latterly I have the Canon 5DsR and R5, and also shoot film with a Bronica Sq-Ai, Ebony 45SU and Tachihara 10x8
I have so many contacts that I do not comment that often, as it takes up an unreasonable amount of time to do so.
Feel free to make me a contact, but I won't always be able to reverse contact you as I am struggling to give you all the time each of you deserves.
All pictures are the copyright of Stephen Byard. If you are interested in using any work on this site, or would like a print of any size, please contact me first.
Please enjoy my images and I hope you are inspired by them to create your own masterpieces

He might only give a short comment, but you know that he has taken the time to look and think about each picture. He excels in his landscape work, with bright vivid colours, and gorgeous sunrise and sunsets. It's a pleasure to look through his stream, and I am always finding images that I had not seen before that make me stop and stare. Thanks Pixelda!

Stephen's landscape work has the beauty and freshness of a dream. Its a profound meditation on the nature of place and time. The beautiful images have an overwhelming sense of melancholia and a mediation of the mysterious with an inherent surrealism. Technically the photos are very accomplished and his patience is outstanding especially arising at sunrise to capture the fleeting light. Stephen's whole stream is astonishing and one of my favourites on flickr.

His congruence shines through and it’s always a pleasure to come into contact with him, be it through his images or groups. His images are a delightful mix of nature and social commentary. Oh did I mention he has a thing for Alan Titchmarsh? Must be a Yorkshire thing!

If ever you wanted a contact it would be Stephen. He takes the time to critically look at an image and give an honest opinion. Of course, someone who can critically evaluate images will also know how to make excellent compositions of their own. Just look through Stephen's photostream and marvel at the way he captures the beauty of the Yorkshire countryside. And another thing - he knows how to use software - but not in an over-the-top turn-your-images-into-pop-art way. He uses software to blend images and make them look as they would to the human eye. In short, he's an all-round talent with a camera who's also generous with his advice.
