Photography has been one of my favourite hobbies for over 30 years. I used to have a number of film SLRs (Minolta, Canon) and started using digital cameras in 2003 (first purchase: Pentax Optio 550, gave up the ghost some years later).

I also used to have a Canon G10 and a Lumia 1020 mobile phone with a 41MP ZEISS lens. Unfortunately, both crashed fatally in 2017. I recently bought a Pentax Optio 550 on ebay. Using it makes me feel nostalgic and I'm amazed at how good this old piece of technology still is. I also got my hands on a G11, but found I didn't like using it very much.

My current big babies are a Sony a57 and an a68. I also recently bought an a6000, which I prefer when travelling light. They are all far from perfect, but I enjoy using the Sonys despite their individual shortcomings. The more serious problem is that I rarely find enough time to get out and use my cameras.

Unexpectedly, I increasingly often find that I'm too lazy to use one of my real cameras nowadays and end up shooting with my phone. For some time that was a Huawei P30 Pro, featuring a Leica 'Quad Camera'. The telephoto lens (equivalent to 135mm) was quite impressive and fun to use, but it needed lots of light. Currently I'm shooting with a Honor Magic5 Pro. Again I can see and enjoy the development of photo technology in smartphones.

OK, I must go and take some more pictures. Expect the purely eclectic.
