The Petroleum Institute’s solar car project, the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, began in Fall 2013. The project is run by a group of students and faculty from the electrical and mechanical departments of PI. The team intends to use this car in international solar car competitions such as the World Solar Challenge.

The main objectives of this project are to increase the technical education and hands-on experience of the participating students and to raise public awareness about sustainability and the possibilities of solar energy, of which we have plenty.
