Fifty-ish yo father of two. Took a lot of photos in high school and college, but got away from it. Digital photography and Flickr rekindled a lost love. I can spend hours looking at everyone's photos. Flickr and its photographers have inspired me to dig deeper and look at my work differently.
When my father passed away I inherited his Canon Rebel XT. I had digital point and shoots, but having the extra flexibility of the SLR opened up my creative juices a bit. After playing with if for a few years and getting what I felt were decent results, I wanted something that had a larger sensor and worked better in low light. After much research I settled on the Sony A7. Love it! PIcs are really better right out of camera. Such low noise and range is amazing. Currently only have the 24 - 70 kit lens, but augment with a remote shutter release and B&W 10 Stop ND filter on occasion.
I am influenced by several of the the photography social media stars such as Trey Ratcliff, Jimmy McIntyre and David DuChemin, but one of my biggest influences has been Serge Ramelli. If you are looking for a wealth of good, free tutorials, check out his site: www.photoserge.com.
Most of my work is done in Lightroom, with occasional, though rare, jaunts over to Photoshop.
I live and work in the Washington, DC Metro area.
