Gerard Beaulieu, or pifou2010, as is his avatar, has got to be the finest person in Flickr today! He is the most unselfish man, with his comments, invites and faves. I don't know when he gets a chance to sleep, or do his own art work, because those sometimes personal notes, come at any hour of the day or night. Gerard is a multi-talented individual, with an eye for the unusual, as he walks the city of Paris. It can be said that he is truly an ambassador of France, promoting sites that ordinary tourists may avoid, or be completely unaware of their existence. He does all of this, with a great sense of humor, in English as well as in his native French, and possibly other languages. Gerard is never negative in his comments, but always brings a smile to one's face and heart. If that weren't enough, the man is an accomplished artist, with an unmatched expertise in the use of color. He especially likes to use cobalt blue, which, I think a French cartoon hero, Pifou, loves as well. I may be stretching the relationship here a bit, but I want to stress the fact that his work is recognizable, even in a thumb-sized image. Gerard does uncanny mirror images, with unlikely subject matter, like parts of existing sculpture. He does almost believable outer space imagery; gorgeous takes on nature, with reflections of water and sky; incredible florals with dynamic colors; and the list goes on endlessly. I'm happy to consider him a friend, whom I'd love to trail behind for at least a week in Paris, where he roams and finds these hidden treasures. I wish him the best of health and creativity, in the ensuing year, 2012.
