ON MY 21st birthday...
Instead of spending my money on booze at a bar on a night I can't remember, I bought myself a camera. Working as a vehicle electronics technician, I saved up enough cash to purchase my first DSLR. After countless hours of researching reviews and comparisons, I settled on a refurbished Nikon D3200 with an 18-55mm lens. Filled with excitement, I downloaded and read the .pdf manual for my camera TWICE while my present was being shipped. Throughout the previous year, I had experimented and pushed my grandmother's gift of a "point-and-shoot" Nikon CoolPix L22 camera to its limits and was seeking more creative control over my images. This camera served its purpose (and I am forever grateful grandma) but I was frustrated by not being able to create my envisioned image due to lack of control. This point-and-shoot camera opened my eyes to the wonderfully creative world of photography but left me hungry for more.
Fast forward 3 years...
I am still using that same D3200, with the same kit lens. My love for photography has deepened and I have learned many tips and tricks for getting the most out of my setup without spending a ton on fancy gear. I hope to share my love for photography with you and also hope you walk away from this site with inspiration to spend some TLC with mother nature and your camera too!!!
