Although there is much ugliness and darkness in our world, it is possible to find beauty and light. I get a lot of pleasure in finding beauty and light through photography.

I am retired and live in the North East of England. I enjoy photography, travel, walking, sailing and cooking. I have been taking photos since I was a boy and my parents gave me a Kodak Instamatic camera. My first digital camera was a Fujifilm Finepix A405 and my second was another Fujifilm, the Finepix A345. My current camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ38, a bridge camera that has served me well for eight years. I especially like the powerful zoom it has and its light weight for taking in a rucksack. I recently bought a Nikon Coolpix P900, mainly for the zoom, especially when birdwatching, as I couldn't afford a DSLR * telephoto lens. Still learning to use it.
